Olympic .380 BBM Starting Pistol
We have been contacted by customers concerned about the Olympic Starting Pistol, which we currently sell.
The starting pistol (image below) we sell is an Olympic .22 which complies with the latest Home Office Legislation.
One of our customers in Northamptonshire has been misinformed by a local firearms officer, who advised that the Olympic .22 was illegal from the 4th June, this is not the case. IT IS THE .38 BBM Staring Pistol which will become illegal.
The Association of Chief Police Officers of England, Wales, Scotland and N. Ireland advise to post up the following further information, which could cause confusion. The links below this statement give more detail.
From the 4th June 2010, it will be illegal to posses an Olympic BBM firearm anywhere in the UK . The move follows an assessment of the firearm by the Forensic Science Service which found it to be ‘readily convertible’ and concluded it should be classified under Section 1 and Section 5 of the Firearms Act 1968.
‘Following a review of recovered firearms and intelligence across the UK a decision was taken to hold an amnesty in England and Wales to allow individuals to dispose of these weapons ahead of the ban. ACPOS is fully supportive of the amnesty however after carefully considering the examination results from firearm recoveries in Scotland , it was deemed unnecessary for forces in Scotland to participate.
‘Although forces in Scotland are not taking part in the amnesty, if individuals are in possession of these weapons and wish to dispose of them ahead of the ban, they should contact their local force’
