Kay Mason Working Cocker Barney
Gnosall, Staffordshire
In June 2010, I contacted Stewart through the working gun dogs website as I was interested in gun dog training for my extremely lively, two and-a-half year old, working-cocker spaniel, Barney. Initially, I booked an assessment as I needed to be confident that Stewart’s training would suit both Barney and myself. Barney had been extremely bored by my local village obedience class and I felt that he needed something more suited to his breed and in an environment where he and I were tested to a greater level, rather than in the confines of a small village hall. Right from the initial assessment, I liked Stewart’s approach and attitude towards both myself and Barney. Barney responded immediately to Stewart’s training and techniques – walking on a loose lead (for the first time in his life) without choking himself and dislocating my left shoulder! Following the assessment, I booked six, 1 to 1 sessions and have been really pleased with Barney’s progress. Stewart has been very patient when developing my skills as a handler and is extremely clear and focused each session, teaching me new skills that I need to learn and carefully explaining the potential problems that a handler can inadvertently cause. He always highlights the positives and corrects my mistakes in an honest and positive way. Travelling from the Staffordshire/Shropshire border, a round trip of 150miles, I really look forward to each session and have really felt that all 6 sessions plus the assessment have been really valuable. I shall definitely be back for future training and Barney will too! Thank you Stewart!
